My father was from south Australia. He was born in Port Broughton, a small farming town on the the north west coast of the Yorke Peninsula, the tongue of land that hangs down from Port Augusta.
In 1972 while I was teaching in south Australia, Dad and his mate came across from Victoria for a visit and we went down to Port Broughton and spied the old farmstead from a distance. The Church was also the school room in Dad’s days and was located at Wards Hill and was actually on a bit of land that Grand-dad had donated.
Here’s the church when it was opened in 1904. Picture is from Trove (Kapunda Herald, 2 Sept, 1904).
